Skyrim: Where to find the Spell "Clairvoyance" (with Video)

The easiest way to get the spell of Clairvoyance is to buy it from the Trader in Riverwood. Look through his inventory to find it. The Riverwood Trader is right across the street from Avalor (the guy who is smithing).

Skyrim: Talk to the Jarl of Whiterun (with Video)

To talk to the Jarl of Whiterun you must first travel there from Riverwood. Across from Avalor's house (the guy who is smithing) there is a shop. Go inside it and you see people arguing. They tell you that something has been stolen from them (a golden claw) and that they want it back. Offer to get it back from them. Make sure you buy Clairvoyance from him (it comes in handy, at least when it works). Then go outside and the lady will take you to the bridge. From there you can head to Bleak Falls Barrow or go up the river to "discover" Whiterun.

Skyrim: Tell Aventus Aretino that Grelod is dead (with Video)

First travel to Windhelm then go around to the left to find Aventus Aretino. To get this mission see the related post HERE

Skyrim: Kill Grelod the Kind (with Video)

You must first travel to Riften and then find the Honorhall Orphanage. If you don't know how to get this mission you find it in Windhelm, see this post HERE to see how.

Skyrim: Visit the Museum in Dawnstar (Video)

To Visit the Museum in Dawnstar you must first find or "discover" Dawnstar. To do this fast travel to the closest place you have discovered that's North of Riverwood. Then continue heading North, the exact location is shown in the video on the map.

Skyrim: Speak with the leader of the Companions (Video)

You must first either travel to Dragonsreach or Whiterun. Follow the path along past the marketplace in Whiterun and up the steps where the water flows down. From the circular area there head up the steps on the right...

Skyrim: Find Kesh at the Peryite Shrine (Video)

It's kind of in the middle of nowhere but you'll find it Northwest of Riverwood. Follow along with the video. I found it best to travel to Karthwasten, but that's hard if you haven't "discovered" it yet.

Skyrim: Deliver Berit's Ashes to Runil (with Video)

To deliver Berit's Ashes to Runil you must first travel to Falkreath. Falkreath is just Southwest of Riverwood.

Skyrim: Clear Soljund's Sinkhole of Draugr (Video)

This is another of the Miscellaneous quests I left to do when I was caught up in the story and wanted to complete the main quest. Here is a video showing how to get to the Sinkhole and clear it of Draugr.

Skyrim: Wait for Brelyna's Spell to wear off

If you're like me you're stuck in a glitch where you can't finish this quest. Luckily if you're play on PC you can cheat and move on to the next phase of this quest by entering some text in the command console.

Enter "setstage MGRAppBrelyna01 30" into the game console without the quotes obviously.

To find Brelyna Maryon go to the College of Winterhold, to the left of the circular part there is an entrance to the Hall of Attainment. she'll probably be near her bed. If not you can "wait" a few hours until night time, most all of the characters you need will show up in their beds and you can talk to them then.

Skyrim: Participate in a drinking contest with Sam Guenvere (Video)

First travel to Whiterun if you're not already there, then from the entrance head straight past the circular market area and into the pub or the "Bannered Mare".

Skyrim: Visit the Shrine of Azura (with Video)

To visit the shrine of Azura in Skyrim first try to Fast Travel to the sightless pit, if you can't get there go to the college of winterhold and follow my path to the Shrine. The Horse you in the video is called Frost, you can get him for free by double-crossing a guy in a seperate mission. You get this mission in Riften. See THIS post to see how you can get Frost for free, he's a nice horse, doesn't eat much, and runs fast. He even fights along with you.

Skyrim: Bring a Dwarven Battleaxe of Fire to Calcelmo

When you acquire the Dwarven Battleaxe of Fire you'll get some mail from the messenger. Somehow Calcelmo knows that you've gotten a battleaxe! He wants it to study apparently (at least that's what he claims. To take the Battleaxe to Calcelmo first travel to Markarth, it's all the way on the left side of the map.

Skyrim: Find the Source of Power in Lost Tongue Overlook (Video)

Find this place is a pain in the ass, first travel to Riften Stables and then swim across the lake to get to the other side. From there keep heading toward the mountain, on one side of it you'll find a path with some steps. Follow those up

Skyrim: Bring the Unusal Gem to an appraiser

Once you get the gem you'll see this task in the miscellaneous part in your Journal. Travel to Riften which is on the other side of the mountain from Riverwood (East Side).

Skyrim: Find Amren's Family Sword inside Redoran's Retreat

To find Amren's family Sword first travel to Redoran's Retreat. It's directly west of Dragonsreach and East of Greenspring Hollow. If you ever need to find mammoth tusks or want to fight Giant's just for fun travel to this area, there's plenty of them here. Once you retrieve the sword you must take it back to Amren. He has a house in Whiterun, if he's not there you'll have to look for him on the streets. Luckily you can see exactly what he looks like in this video so it should be easy to find him.

Skyrim: Talk to Aventus Aretino

In Skyrim Aventus Aretino is in Windhelm. Seems he had some trouble and is performing some kind of weird prayer or ritual to summon a fool to do his evil bidding. Luckily, you can be that fool, if you so choose. He wants someone dead at an orphanage in Riften.

-Tell Aventus Aretino Grelod is Dead
-Kill Grelod the Kind

Skyrim: Tell Ahtar the bandit is dead...(video)

After you're doing killing the bandits you need to return to the Solitude, or if you want fast travel to the Blue Palace and start walking back. Along that path and to the left is Jala's House. Ahtar should be in there.

Skyrim: Wife Beating...

In Skyrim there is no way to get a divorce (not that I know of) once you get married. Luckily, marriage is only good till "death do us part", and in Skyrim death is easy to come by.

Personally, I prefer to use a weapon for beating my wife that doesn't have a lot of power. If you've been to prison you can snag a type of "shank", otherwise a dagger will do, or if you're a real man just go ahead and use your fists.

Since the guards in Skyrim don't see your wife as being your property they will intervene if they see you beating her. Wife beating is best done in the home away from anyone else, especially the guards. You can also stage her death to make it look like an accident (there no life insurance in Skyrim so not much point in this), go to the top of a cliff and use your shout to "push" her off the edge.

Skrim: Most Powerful Mace...

This is one of the most powerful Mace's you can aquire in Skryim is not the most powerful. The best thing about it is that it's fairly easy to get even at a low-skill level and the mission will not have you running up off the edge of a cliff on your search for the next objective.

To begin the mission first travel to Markarth. Markarth is a Dwarven city with beautiful waterfalls, golden doors, and streams. It's also one of the few places where you can purchase a home (see guide to property HERE to be able to get a home for free).

As soon as you enter Markarth you'll see some carts, and a sort of "cut-scene". After the mess, continue straight down that path and look at the second door on the right. It's an abandoned house. You can not pick the lock so you have to wait for two guys to start arguing outside this door. Then when the mission is available there will be one standing outside here permanently. Go and talk to him and offer him your help.


Molag Bal, the Lord of Domination, will offer you this power Mace, but first you must complete a task for him.

-Find your reward
-Search the abandoned house

This is exactly what you need to do to buy a property in Skyrim. You can get all the homes for FREE using an exploit as well as get unlimited coin.

You can  purchase houses in Whiterun, ($5,000), Markarth ($8000), Riften ($8,000), Windhelm ($12,000), and Solitude ($25,000). For Whiterun, Markarth and Solitude, you will need to do a quest for the local Jarl. Speak to the Jarl or his/her steward to get the proper quests.

Here is a video showing how to Focus the Oculory, it's like the earlier puzzles in Skyrim where you have to push the buttons until something happens. In this case you need to line up the light beams with the circles in each ring.

Skyrim: Lost Lydia, tips for how to get her back...

Did you lose Lydia on a quest in Skyrim? Here are some tips to help you get her back, keep from losing her again, or replace her. Remember, that she will come wait in your house in Whiterun if you've purchased a home.

There are a few reasons why you might lose Lydia

1. She dies
2. She gets left behind in a glitch where her character can't move
3. She runs off to fight a nearby enemy, (one time she rans straight into the water to fight off some kind of fish!) Luckily I used a previous auto-save to get her back.


Before a battle, save your game. You can save during combat as well. Many times I ended up beating all the enemies but accidentally hit her with my weapon or magic (she gets in the way) and she dies. Sometimes other characaters who are temporarily helping you will get in the way and accidnetally get caught in the line of fire (no friendly fire in this game) so it's always a good idea to save BEFORE battle and DURING battle!

Another reason why you might lose Lydia is if you accidentally tell her...

Skyrim: Strategy to defeat Nahkriin Boss

This is more of a trick/glitch to defeat him but the basic concept can be applied to any boss. Another way to "glitch" him is to get him up against a wall or in a corner when he heads back form the top of where he was to the stairs. There's a corner there on the wall, if you use magic to "push" him in that area you can just hit him with any weapon right up close to defeat him easily.

Glitch in Skyrim "Set Odahviing Free" SOLVED (Video)

If you can't free Odahviing after trapping him at dragonsreach don't worry, it's NOT a glitch. It's just horrible Developer work from Bethesda Gameworks. What you need to do is go up the stairs to the right (right side when facing the dragon), speak to the guard up there and ask him to release the trap.

From The Collge of Winterhold go around and down the mountain, use the ice caps to run across the water, then follow the path around the mountain to a little strip that leads to Septimus Singus's Outpost, there is a little boat there to let you know you are headed the right way. If it's hard to see from the snow just "wait" there until the weather clears up.

- Find Septimus Signus
- Ask Urag about the insane book

How to Find and Transcribe the Lexicon in Skyrim (Video)

Having trouble finding the Lexicon? I did too, here is a video showing exactly how to get there!

Use Clairvoyance to get to the door that leads out this way, once you get out there head to the arrows on the left (skipped this in the video, but go ahead and do it) and they will hit that robot lady (rosy? jk). After that you can fight the farmlers and other creatures or you can just run like a little bitch like I did. It really doesn't matter. You're destination is the "Tower of Mzark", you pull a lever to get there. After that go ahead and put the cube down and press the button (video shows exactly how to press them)

Gears of War 3 LEAKED!!!!

The much anticipated Gears of War 3 has been leaked! It hit the "scene" not long ago for "jtagged" Xbox 360's. If you're not familiar with what a "jtag" is consider it like the hack for the original Xbox where you could play any game you wanted off the hard drive, no need to burn Dual-layer discs! Unfortunately, I do not have a jtagged xbox so if you have one, and you played Gears of war 3 please leave a comment.

What a difference Nvidia's PhysX makes!

So I came across this article about Nvidia's PhysX and some side-by-side pictures of gameplay with PhysX on and off. There's also a video. Currently I'm using an ATI card, but I think my next card will be Nvidia.

The Next Xbox to be revealed in 2012...

When will Microsoft release a new Xbox? IGN is citing a source from Videogamer.com which claims the details for the next Xbox will be revealed at E3 2012. (Of course this is assuming the world does not end first)

A "high-ranking industry source at Crytek" told the website that while specifications for the next console have not been finalized, Crytek is using Microsoft's DirectX 11 for next-gen development. The source says Microsoft will announce the new Xbox in the next year, likely at E3 2012.

"Crytek believes that Microsoft will announce and launch its new machine ahead of rival Sony, though the developer is also investing resources into next-generation PlayStation development."

If this is true, and all things go as planned we can expect Sony to release the Playstation 4 soon after Microsoft. Another possibility...

Halo 4 on Xbox 360 or Xbox 720?

It was announced for Fall of 2012 during Microsoft's E3 2011 Press Conference. Sure the date may change but what I'm more concerned about is whether or not it will launch with a new console. If you haven't seen the teaser trailer see my other blog post here


 I had really hoped that Microsoft would hold off on another Halo game and set it to release with a new console on launch day. Perhaps Microsoft is planning on releasing a new console, afterall Fall of 2012 is still a long ways away (not to mention eerily close to the end of the world). Since they didn't specifically state that it would be on Xbox 360 there is a chance that it will launch with a new console (Xbox 720 or whatever they plan to call it). I think they need to stop desecrating the Halo series by continuing to release games on outdated technology (if you don't understand this, play games on a PC, or check out my Witcher 2 videos, you will be amazed if you are only a console gamer). We are long overdue for a console, wouldn't you agree?

E3 2011: Microsoft Gives a sneak Peek of HALO 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No kidding! I couldn't believe what I saw. No BS Prestory, this is the real deal when you (Master Chief) wake up from the cryo chamber after setting yourself up in it in Halo 3...remember "Wake me when you need me"

Tomb Raider: Turning Point Trailer [1080p HD]

This is the trailer for the new Tomb Raider game. It's pre-rendered so don't expect it to look like that in-game. Although the trailer is good, I wish we could see what the in-game graphics will be like. We know for fact that for Xbox 360 & PS3 they will look like crap because those consoles are completely outdated. The last Tomb Raider game, Underworld, had some great photo realistic environments. I think I have another blog post about photo-realism in games. (I'll add a link here later) Of course many years have passed since the last game came out and so you would expect the graphics to improve and really push PC's (forget about consoles, even counterstrike would push the available consoles we have now). I don't have my hopes up though, I think in-game footage will be the usual plasticy-looking Lara Croft we've come to know and love.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution LEAKED!

I've been wanting to play this game since I heard about it. The pre-build beta has been leaked, you can find it in the usual places. My comments are that I'm glad it's the prebuild and not the final game. Hopefully the final build will actually have textures on things in the environment. Some other important things to note:

1. I saw a DirectX 11 option!
2. Full support for Xbox 360 controller for windows
3. Interesting story, but opening is similar to Mass Effect.
4. You can choose dialog but I'm not sure it makes any difference to the story.
5. There's a hot chick in there that has a thing for you ;)you mechanical stud you...

The Witcher 2 - Find the Dun Banners Standard and Vandergrift's sword...(HD Video)

"Find the Dun Banner's standard and Vandergrift's sword. Then see Philippa about the remaining artifacts."

This is exactly how you get to the Place to find the Dun Banner Standard, it's also the same path to get to "place of power" I've made a note of it on the video.

From the "Inn" aka bar, go through the underpass where you see two banners, walk through the market area and then make a right and go up the stairs and around to where the little dwarf guard is standing. Continue along this path to get to a wooden door. When you go through that door you get outside by a lake, cross the lake at the correct spot as noted in the video, to get to the place of power go up the path on the hill, to find the dun banner go over the SMALL lake/pond and continue on that path. You'll be fighting a bunch of wraiths here so make sure to save your game and use Quen sign magic.

First you need to have sided with Iorveth and left Flotsam on a boat with him. If you chose to side with Roche you will not get this scene (but you'll have Ves ;). If you want the Ves Sex scene see my other post here. Video at the bottom.

Once you have made the proper decisions (side with Iorveth) you end up at Vergen (the place with the dwarfs, and superhot Saskia the dragonslayer chick). From the "Inn" go past the two red banners as if on your way out of Vergen. See maps below for her exact location.

You can't miss it because you see this big RED cart on your way out of there. Go towards the big red cart and you'll see her.

The Witcher 2 - Dragon boss fight (chapter 3) HD Video

I had a lot of trouble with the dragon fight after Sile disappears. My silver sword was only at a max damage of 22 I think but I still managed to beat him after a few tries once I figured out this strategy.

For the first part it's easy, when he's peaking through the window just let him blow fire at you and dodge then attack.


For the second part of the fight when you need to fight him on the hexigon/octagonal platform you need to run along the side of the platform (you can't fall off) up to his neck. HE WILL STICK HIS NECK OUT FOR YOU TO HIT! 

Use Quen the whole time! Always have that spell on yourself otherwise you won't last long.

Dodge his other attacks and wait for him to sit on the side then as I said above go run along the edge and wait for him to stick his neck out, he'll almost pause waiting for you to attack.

At some point you'll need to run in circles and avoid his fire to give yourself time to regenerate your health (I did this without potions and armor enhancements). Once you're at a comfortable health do the same thing, run along the side and let him stick his neck out for you. Watch the bottom of the screen to make sure you're getting hits in. It'll say Geralt hit's for 25 etc etc

What happened to the Witcher 2 topless dungeon scene?

I thought maybe they had taken it out with all the hoopla I heard about showing a woman topless in a dungeon being tortured (or about to be). They did NOT take the scene out, but I guess there are many hidden things in the game depending on what decisions you make and how you even go through the level!!! I have to hand it to CD Project, they did an amazing job. To find the lady being tortured in The Witcher 2 you have to do the following

First make sure you chose to KILL the lady's son Ayrand at the top of the tower. If you let him live he'll be in the dungeon getting tortured (if you kill him his mom, Mary Louisa La Valette, will be there). (i'll post a video later on)


NOT only that but you have to go a certain way through the level. When you break free from where you were chained go up the stairs and open the door. Wait for the guard to come by and knock him out. Go up one more set of stairs. Wait for the guard patrolling this hall to turn away (no need to take him out) and turn RIGHT and go up another flight of stairs, the guard on this upper level are not facing you so knock them both out, the one furthest away has the key. Take the key and go back down the stairs being careful not to be seen by the guard you just snuck past. Use the key to open that door. Then go down the trap door. When you go through the level this way you get to see the torture scene. If you kill the guy at the top of the tower his mom will be tortured in there. If you let him live he'll be in there being tortured. To avoid this scene don't go that way and something else happens!

The Witcher 2 Review

The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings is probably the best RPG I've ever played. Mass Effect is probably my other favorite game in this genre. However, I have to give the top position to The Witcher 2. Overall I give it a 9.5/10. It's mature theme, gore, graphics realism, and story/plot choices make it better than Mass Effect. But don't get me wrong, Mass Effect is an amazing game, it's just that The Witcher 2 is better. In the Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings not only do your choices affect the game play but the way you go through the levels can also affect what happens. For example, in the beginning of the game Geralt is escaping from his cell, if you chose to go through a certain door you get a different cut-scene. If you go drop through the trap door you end up at a part of the dungeon where a lady is being tortured. If

go the other way she ends up coming out of there herself fully clothed. The Witcher 2 doesn't sugar-coat any of the fighting scenes whether they're in-game or cut-scene, you see heads chopped off, people stabbed in the heart, limbs detached, etc.

The Witcher 2 - Go to the Kingslayer's hideout (HD Video)

As you may have figured out by this stage of the game, it's easy to get lost in the Witcher 2 and the maps SUCK! Here is a path I've drawn on the map to help you out. Watch the video or read below.

Where is the kingslayers hideout location?

From the front of the camp (where there is a two-door system you always go through) exit out looking at the big red tent. From there don't cross the river to where the hookers are just hang a right and stay on the same side. There is a path there, follow it till you get to a "stump" in the middle of the shallow river (you see the same stump on the way to Sabrina's ritual site). From there go straight and DO NOT make a right when you can, keep going forward to encounter some Bandits, run through or fight them off then continue and make a right again away from the green fog.

The Witcher 2 - Help Dethmold in his Necromantic ritual (buy gadwall potion)

Where do I find Gadwall? It's so easy! I wasted a lot of time on this so here's how you do it. Talk to Dethmold in the tent. He'll insist that you "prepare" to the ritual and Geralt suggests drinking Gadwall. As soon as you exit the tent there is a man sitting outside to your right. He is literally in front of the tent Dethmold is in and it seems he's the only one who has Gadwall. Just buy some off him, then go into meditation mode and drink it.

Henselt is already at the Pixie so from there go to:

1. Bread
2. Black candle
3. Goat
4. Scorched Tree
5. Raven
6. Sour Milk
7. Pixie



Basically you're doing the following pattern:

After that go down by the black candles and use your Igni sign and the whole thing will catch on fire.

***********To fight the monsters use the magic sign on yourself (Quen), it's the one that's the second from the last on the bottom I believe, it's the one that makes you glow blue and "shocks" anyone that tries to hit you (see pics below). Keep doing this sign on yourself for the duration of the battle. There's a lot of them to fight, after you beat a certain amount of them the cut-scene will ensue and Henselt will stab the bitch.

I believe I have every possible sex scene in The Witcher 2 that you can get at the whore house/inn/bar/brothel or whatever you want to call it. I also found that you don't have to pay them the full amount. Though they do get offended if you low ball them (no pun intended)

Look on your map and go to the "Inn". There are 2 Levels at the Inn, the main level has all your buddies and your girlfriend Triss Merigold. She's the knockout redhead sitting at the table. Leaning up by the bar is Vernon Roche. From here go down one level and pass the dwarf who is watching the fighting from afar and smoking. At the end of this room (to the left of the fight) is a wooden door. Go through that and you'll see a room full of ladies. It seems there are only three ladies you can hook up with here:

The Witcher 2 - Triss Nude Scene (NSFW HD Video)

Here is a video of Geralt of Rivia getting it on with Triss Merigold in the tub/bath house. I think they made Triss so sexy, she's cute/sexy/beautiful with amazing tits and ass.

This is a great image to compare their skin textures. I think it's easy to tell that the artists working on this were men, since they spent a LOT more time on Triss's body. Look at the light reflections on Triss and on Geralt, his scars don't look as detailed as Triss's beautifully textured skin. Even in the beginning scene Geralt's skin texture looks pasty, Triss is flawless however (in terms of realistic skin texture).

What's interesting about this scene is when you think about it from a developers perspective you can see why they do certain things the way they do. For example, why did Triss remove her clothes with magic?? Guess. Ok, I'll tell you...it's because it's hard to render cloth coming off their bodies, which is why the programmers opted to use magic for her clothes to disappear rather than take them off 1 article at a time. Also notice the only thing that comes off Geralt is the belt, which is easy to render, it's also easier if she just pulls him into the tub without him having to remove his pants. Just something to think about ;)

On a side note, that's also why throughout most games when they hand each other things they leave that out. For example, if someone give Geralt a piece of paper they only show the upper arms moving implying that something has exchanged hands rather than rendering the whole action. Again, just something to think about as you play. But you have to hand it the the developers, they really worked hard rendering Triss's body, she has very realistic skin texture not only on her face but everywhere. Very well done CD Projekt!
